Daniel Waycik is a community safety specialist, program builder, and the resident “egghead” of PCS. With more than 10 years of experience spanning community safety, human rights implementation, investigations, traffic management, change management, training development, and public engagement, they bring a multidisciplinary approach to designing programs that work in the real world.

Daniel’s work has focused on urban inner-city and Indigenous communities across Canada, combining practical software and data tools with the knowledge of frontline workers and a firm belief that lived experience is professional expertise.

Whether developing technology behind the scenes or implementing complex projects in the field, their goal is to build sustainable programs that can ultimately be owned and led by the communities they serve.

Now based in Utrecht, Daniel is leading PCS’s expansion into Europe while continuing to advance community-led approaches to public safety and social innovation.

A self-described problem solver, Daniel is known for disappearing into the office for hours to tackle an interesting challenge, but they are equally at home in the field bringing those ideas to life. Outside of work, Daniel is an enthusiastic advocate for public and active transportation, a year-round cyclist, and someone who considers comparing transportation infrastructure in different countries a perfectly reasonable way to spend a vacation. They also enjoy tinkering with mechanics and small electronics and listening to podcasts on science, politics, history, and philosophy.
